We have 3 Sail Training Courses

Course 1: Introduction to Sailing
It is ideal for total beginners who wish to get a taste of sailing on a big boat but who have never sailed before. You will get opportunities to steer the boat and do some sail trimming. It is good fun!
Should you wish to continue into Course 2 then these two sessions will be credited to that Course.


Course 2:
H.K.Y.A. Competent Crew ( 5 Days)
The HKYA Competent Crew Course. This course is suitable for total beginners who wish to get a Certificate of crewing proficiency. At the completion of this course you should be able to help crew on a yacht under the charge of an experienced skipper. You will learn how to steer the yacht under sail and engine, how to hoist and trim the sails plus many other useful and necessary skills which will make you a valued Crew Member.


Course 3:
H.K.Y.A. Day Skipper ( 5 Days)
The HKYA Day Skipper Course. This is for anyone who has completed the Crew Course or has suitable previous sailing experience on a big boat. On completion of this course you should be able to skipper a yacht in coastal waters. You will learn basic navigation, rules of the road, anchoring, etc. but mainly you will take responsibility for organizing the yacht and its crew for short passage making.

(a 10% discount will be given if you are continuing to this course after the Competent Crew Course with us.)

All course fees to be paid if full on commencement of the Course

As an accredited Instructor we issue HKYA Certificates, included in the cost of the Course. The Courses are similar in content to other national authority’s Certificates of the same name – we can supply RYA Hand Books if required.

 

For All Courses

Courses are normally conducted on our 45 feet yacht “Vanguard.” moored at Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club in Causeway Bay. Sessions start at 1030 and finish around 4.30 p.m.

Lunch is included, as are soft drinks. (Please inform us if you have any special dietary requirements) We also have wet weather jackets and, of course, all the necessary safety equipment.

Wear casual clothes and trainers if you do not have sailing shoes. (No bare feet - as it is dangerous). A change of clothes is advisable.
